Frequently Asked Questions

I am generally available to book anyone Monday - Thursday at around 5pm, 6pm, or 7pm the latest. If you are unavailable during those times we can arrange a different day as long as a mentor is also present that day, so I will just need to confirm that before booking.

As an apprentice I am only allowed to do arms, legs, and shoulders.

Yes, as a new artist there are some restrictions for now. Designs to avoid are: arm bands, wraps, long straight lines (daggers, swords, etc.), excessive symmetry (hearts, mandalas), lettering/script, fine line/micro designs, geometric/ornamental, realism/portraits, tribal, and cover-ups. If we are ever unsure if a design meets these criteria, a mentor simply needs to approve of it as there may be some exceptions.

As an apprentice, the size limit for tattoos are 2-4 inches in length or width. During the appointment I can show you your design in different sizes so that you can choose whichever you think is best.

I am not fully comfortable tattooing someone else’s work onto my clients without some form of permission or consent from them. Some artists do “tattoo tickets” where you purchase a “ticket” for a design they came up with, thus allowing you to get it tattooed by another artist such as myself. If I can receive some form of proof that the artist gave permission, I am happy to tattoo their design onto you!

Usually parking is not hard to find. There is a small parking lot behind the studio. If the lot is full, you are always welcome to park on State Street in front of the studio.

I love to tattoo and draw animals and other subjects of nature in a sketch style. I also enjoy little stylized character drawings sometimes in that same style. Outside of that, anything shaded and/or line work will likely be ok for me to do. I am still learning how to pack color, and designs that require packing a lot of ink in general (example: a fully black, bold symbol). I will not do color designs for now, but if you are wanting a design with a lot of black, it is likely going to take two sessions in order to avoid scarring.

After your appointment I will tell you the aftercare instructions you need to know. While it heals for the first couple of weeks, the most important thing is that it stays very clean to avoid infection. Once it’s healed, use sunscreen and lotion daily to preserve it for as long as possible.

Please send me your tattoo once it’s healed (4-6 weeks after the session) so I can determine if it needs a touch up. Touch ups are free of charge as they only take an average of 10-15 minutes. Since I am still new, it’s likely that your design will need a touch up for your sake, and for mine! A certain amount of my work needs to be turned in as an assignment in order for me to graduate, so touch ups will better my chance of the design receiving a passing grade.

Pricing

My rate is $60 per hour, with a minimum session time of 1 hour.

The final cost depends on the size, detail, and placement of the tattoo. Custom designs may require additional time for consultation and preparation, which would be included in the final cost.
